A woman from Puebla and a man from Moselle. An accountant and an engineer. One shared wish: to live in France, the Mexican way.
ALMERÍA · WHERE IT ALL BEGAN
We met during an Erasmus exchange in Almería, Spain. After plenty of adventures, we got married. Our deal? To live in France, with unconditional love and respect for Mexican culture.
A few years later, we were missing something: the aroma, the acidity, the salsa and the tenderness of a really good taco. That longing became an obsession, then a project.
NUESTRO SUEÑO
To share our passion and introduce you to Mexico without changing its flavours or values. So we travelled to Mexico, to Tierras Aztecas, to learn first-hand.
THE STEPS OF OUR PROYECTO
We certainly burnt a few batches of carnitas at first! In Mexico, El Taquero watched the cooks at the puestitos. At home, we invited our Mexican friends, who brought their friends. That was when we realised something was happening.
Arte México asked us to make tacos for its event. Cooking for 300 instead of 30 changes everything: a two-hour wait, but delighted customers. Then came Día de Muertos, Reyes Magos, Cinco de Mayo, markets and private celebrations.
We wanted to open in October and had two weeks to fix up the premises. Surprise: all the plumbing needed replacing. With our friends’ support, we finally opened. Covid followed, but if we’re still here, it’s thanks to you.
